IBC drums are solid and durable, with a service life of about 20 years in general. However, if not used correctly, IBC drums are likely to experience premature aging, shortened service life, and even affect the safety of content storage. What are the reasons for the shortened service life of IBC drums, and how can they be avoided during use? Dongfang Bucket Industry reminds everyone to pay attention to these four points.
1. Pay attention to standardized operation during the filling and draining process
HDPE material ton drums can be used to store most liquids, but chemical compatibility tests are still required before filling to ensure that the filling material matches the performance of the ton drums. When filling, the liquid should not exceed 60 ° C. After filling, leave a certain buffer space, and tighten the lid after the temperature of the filling material drops to ambient temperature.
Open the top filling cap when draining to prevent negative pressure inside the container. Rotate the threaded cap of the discharge valve, tear off the sealing aluminum foil, remove the locking screw, and turn the valve wrench clockwise to start discharging. After the discharge is completed, close the valve, tighten the locking screw, and tighten the sealing cover and filling port cover of the discharge valve.
2. Avoid collisions during transportation
External impact and collision can easily cause deformation and even damage to the ton bucket. Therefore, protection should be taken during the transportation of the ton bucket. When handling, bottom lifting should be used. When using a forklift for loading and unloading, ensure that the forklift fork arm is aligned with the fork hole at the ton bucket pallet and exceeds the bottom frame on the opposite side before lifting. The transportation process generally adopts single-layer loading, and the vehicle baffle is higher than or equal to the height of the ton bucket. If double-layer loading is required, buffer materials should be added between the ton buckets and tied and fixed to prevent displacement during transportation.
3. Pay attention to storage temperature and avoid direct sunlight exposure
Water stains and dirt can invade the barrel body, causing damage to the internal markings. High temperature and exposure to sunlight may cause aging and deformation of the barrel body. Therefore, the ton bucket should be stored in a clean, dark, and cool environment, away from flammable and explosive materials, and the ambient temperature should be maintained between -18 ℃ and 40 ℃.
4. Reuse requires thorough cleaning
The ton bucket can be reused, but before reuse, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned and its sealing performance checked to ensure no dirt, no corrosion, and good sealing.
